This winter we decided to spend our winter holiday in the biggest ski resort in Bulgaria – Bansko. It is no secret that Bansko has some of the best skiing conditions in Europe. That is why it is among the favorite winter destination for many foreigners.
Due to the great interest this winter, finding a hotel at an affordable price, turned out to be no simple task. 2 years ago we visited Bansko, but the hotel where we were staying did not meet our expectations, which is why our choice this time was a result of more thorough study. There is a huge choice of accommodation in Bansko, but there are always a few important factors, for choosing the best one. For us, determining factor in choosing a hotel, was its features, such as; spa, good restaurant and not least – the price. There were a lot, really affordable accommodations in Bansko, but we needed 2 separate rooms (for our friends) and almost none of the hotels that suits us, couldn't offer 2 available rooms for the chosen period.
So, we chose Hotel Olymp. First we’ve checked hotel guest reviews at Booking.com. Almost all of the reviews were very good. Later we found a better offer for the same hotel on Grabon.bg – comparing prices website. We’ve booked the best value package with breakfast and spa included. It was a very reasonable offer, as regular price for a double room through Booking.com (with breakfast) was € 32, with Grabon.bg we booked it for about € 23, including spa package (sauna, steam bath, cold pool and Jacuzzi). There was also an offer for € 30 with dinner included, but we wanted to try the local traditional dishes at famous Bansko taverns. Another plus of the Hotel Olymp is that accommodation and breakfast are free for children up to 3 years, while at many hotels surcharge for children over two years is required.
After we checked availability at the Hotel Olymp, we made a reservation. It seemed like a very low price for the package in a 3-star hotel and frankly we were a bit worried, but at the moment we entered the reception all the worries disappeared. Initially good impressions of the hotel, became even greater after we enter the room. It was spacious, clean, with a large double bed, sunny and overlooking the snowy Pirin Mountains.
There was a mini bar, a small coffee table and plenty of cupboards at the room, everything stylish and neat. Room-service, Free Wi-Fi internet and telephone to contact the reception, are available. The outside temperature was 20 degrees below freezing, so we were really pleased with a warm room.
In the morning we came down for breakfast in the restaurant. There was a rich blog table, with large selection of snack, tea and coffee, milk and juices. We couldn’t believe what we get for such a low price.
After we spent half a day on the slopes of Banderishka Polyana, we headed hungry back to the hotel. Entering the room, we noticed that it was cleaned and towels changed. After we took a warm shower, we decided to go to the restaurant for a warm soup. I always doubted in the specialties of such hotels, but the restaurant at Olympus was really at the TOP level. The soups were very delicious. The menu at the restaurant is nothing short of those in the center of Bansko, with the difference that the prices were much lower. After we ate the time for SPA has come. The hotel offers a steam bath, Hot whirlpool, sauna, cold pool and possibility for massages. The only thing that was missing was an indoor pool, to our regret, the hotel had just outside pool. However, we had totally relaxed in the steam bath and jacuzzi. If you're more extreme set, you can also take the advantage of the small pool with freezing cold water in combination with the steam bath – the effect is amazing!
We had arrived during the weekdays and the hotel was a half full. But over the weekend a lot of people came, and suddenly there wasn't enough parking space for all the cars. But due to the layout of the hotel on a quiet street, it was easy to find extra parking spaces near the hotel. The hotel offers to its guests transfer to the gondola station. The only thing, anyone can find it less, and another for plus, is that the hotel is located at the beginning of Bansko, is a bit remote from the center. These are our pleasant impressions of Hotel Olympus in Bansko. We strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to spend a wonderful winter vacation, in a cozy place, with good service and a wonderful frendly staff.
