Tunis is the capital of the homonymous state located on the coast of the Gulf of Tunis, an inlet of the Mediterranean Sea. Surrounded by hills, the city extends in the plain along the coast. The contrast between the Arab streets and the architecture of the era of French colonization is clearly marked here. The tourists can stroll through the oldest district of the Medina, visit the Mosque of El-Zituna and luxurious palaces. The Bardo Museum with its stunning collection of Roman mosaics is also very interesting. Tunis is separated from the sea by the lake, so there is no beach holiday here, but it does not prevent visitors to enjoy the hospitality of the city.
