The Regional History Museum in the town of Smolyan is named after its creator - the Bulgarian ethnographer Stoyu Shishkov. It was founded in 1935 and is one of the oldest and largest museums in the Rhodope Mountains. Among the exhibits you can see interesting historical, archeological and cultural artifacts from Antiquity to the present day. The museum is part of the 100 National Tourist Sites.
