Bansko and Pirin Mountain

Bansko is the most popular ski resort in Bulgaria, one of Europe's Top 10 ski destinations and host of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup. Thanks to the wide variety of accommodations, the well developed ski facilities and the beautiful scenery, Bansko is a perfect winter destination for mountaineers and winter sport lovers, both from home and abroad.

If your passion is skiing, in Bansko you can enjoy over 60 km of ski runs with different levels of difficulty, Gondola lift, many chair lifts and drags. If you're attracted by sightseeing, here you can visit five cultural and historical monuments of national importance, part of the "100 Tourist Sites of Bulgaria".

As one of the cheapest top ski resorts in Europe, Bansko is ideal not only for skiing, but also for family holiday. It features a great ski school and green marked ski runs (Easiest Level of difficulty) for children and beginners. For intermediate skiers and professionals, there is a big choice of blue, red and black marked runs.

Location: Bansko is situated in Southwestern Bulgaria, at the foot of the beautiful Pirin Mountain - about 56 km from Blagoevgrad and 150 km from Sofia. Bansko is part of Blagoevgrad region and administrative center of Bansko municipality.

Bansko ski area

The ski zone of Bansko features 18 ski slopes with a total length of 60 km, 15 lift facilities and over 200 snow machines. Exit point for the ski area, is the lower Gondola lift station in Bansko.

Runs/slopes: – 18 with a total length of 60,4 km – 16,2 km of them blue marked (light); – 24,5 km red marked (medium); – 3,7 km black marked (difficult), 16 km ski trails (for intermediates).

The most difficult (black marked) run is – Tomba (length 2470 km).

The highest peak Todorka – at 2560 meters altitude, is starting point of four ski slopes; – 2 blue marked - Plateau 1 and Plateau 2; – and 2 red marked - Bunderitsa and Balkanyada.

The longest track is “Bansko” (blue marked, intermediate) with a total length of 10.2 kilometers. It starts from Banderishka meadow and leads to the lower Gondola lift station in Bansko.

Lifts: – 15 with total length of 22 km – 9 chair lift with a length of 13,2 km; – 5 drags (T-bar/body drags) with a length of 2,4 km; –  1 cable Gondola lift with a length of 6,2 km.

Ski season Duration: The ski season in Bansko lasts four months - from December to April.
